Our Favourite Dorset Coastal Locations

We love being based in Bournemouth on the beautiful Dorset coast – it’s an entrepreneurial town with an amazing vibe, plus beaches on our doorstep! Paddle-boarding after work is just one of the perks we offer…

So, we thought we’d showcase some of our favourite places on and around our coastline!

Corfe Castle

One of Britain’s most iconic and evocative survivors of the English Civil War, partially demolished in 1646 by the Parliamentarians. There’s also a fantastic pub, The Greyhound, right at the base!

A favourite haunt for adults and children alike, all ages are captivated by these romantic castle ruins with breathtaking views across Purbeck.

Brownsea Island

Brownsea Island is dramatically located in Poole Harbour, with spectacular views across to the Purbeck Hills.

Thriving habitats including woodland, heathland and a lagoon create a unique haven for wildlife, such as the rare red squirrel and a wide variety of birds, including dunlin, kingfishers, common and sandwich terns and oystercatchers.

Durdledoor

Durdle Door is one of Dorset’s most photographed and iconic landmarks – a natural limestone arch on the Jurassic Coast near Lulworth in Dorset, England. The arch stands about 200 feet above sea level. Although privately owned by the Lulworth Estate, it is open to the public and is part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. It’s an extremely popular beauty spot!

Swanage

The coastal town of Swanage is pure nostalgia. Ride a steam train through the countryside to this seaside resort, walk along the Victorian pier and gaze out over Swanage Bay from Durlston Castle.

Situated on the Isle of Purbeck, this fun family resort is ideal for relaxing breaks, walking and exploring the Jurassic Coast.

Sandbanks

Winner of the Blue Flag award for over 30 years and with its soft golden sands and breathtaking views, it is no wonder that Sandbanks is considered one of Britain’s best beaches.

Sandbanks is a small peninsula crossing the mouth of Poole Harbour.  Sandbanks Beach is of the highest quality with fine golden sand and sparkling clean waters, perfect for a family day out at the seaside. The soft sand is ideal for playing in and kids (young and old!) will be able to build sandcastles galore!

We’d love to know your favourite places… and don’t forget – if you visit – make sure you leave these beautiful locations as you found them and always take your rubbish home!
