Category Manager – Strategic Sourcing (Ingredients & Raw Materials)
Location: Peterborough (Hybrid, 2–3 days in the office)
Salary: £50,000 + package
A leading UK organisation is looking for a Category Manager to join its procurement team, overseeing a complex and high-value portfolio of raw materials. This is a great opportunity for someone with category or procurement experience in manufacturing, food production, agriculture, or chemicals to step into a global facing role with real responsibility from day one.
This position sits within a well established procurement function and will involve working across multiple regions, including the UK, Europe, US, and Asia, developing sourcing strategies, managing suppliers, and delivering value through smarter purchasing.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Managing strategic sourcing across a wide range of materials such as additives, minerals, and commodity inputs
- Running tenders and sourcing activity using digital platforms (e.g. e-sourcing tools)
- Leading commercial negotiations and securing long-term agreements that support operational and financial goals
- Working closely with internal teams across supply chain, production, and quality to ensure consistent supply
- Tracking supplier performance, monitoring risks, and responding to market changes
- Supporting improvement projects and helping to evolve procurement processes and strategy
What We’re Looking For:
- A background in procurement or category management, ideally linked to ingredients, raw materials, or similar product categories
- Strong negotiation skills and experience building supplier relationships
- Capable of juggling multiple product lines or regions with a clear focus on delivery and prioritisation
- Able to think strategically about sourcing while staying close to operational detail
- Comfortable working with international suppliers and internal stakeholders alike
- Enthusiastic about personal development and keen to progress in a dynamic procurement environment
