This is an exciting opportunity for a Procurement Lead to join a business at a pivotal stage in its procurement journey. Procurement is undergoing a transformation, with a renewed focus on strategic business partnering, supplier management and creating greater value from the supply chain whilst continuing to deliver excellent customer outcomes.
Reporting to the Director of Procurement, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering the Procurement Strategy, helping to establish strong procurement foundations whilst driving commercial value, supplier performance and operational improvements across the organisation.
The role has responsibility across approximately £120m of Direct and Indirect non-development spend, covering a broad portfolio of categories including Repairs & Maintenance, Facilities Management, Furniture, IT, HR and Marketing. Whilst development spend is currently outside of direct scope, the business has a secured development pipeline in excess of £1bn, creating significant opportunities to influence wider supply chain strategy and commercial outcomes.
Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you will leverage market knowledge, category expertise and supplier insight to develop procurement solutions that create value, support business objectives and strengthen supplier and contractor relationships.
This is a highly visible role offering the opportunity to contribute directly to the development of the Procurement function, influence strategic decision-making and support the delivery of long-term business objectives.
This is a high-impact role where you will:

- Contribute to the development and delivery of procurement strategies that support business objectives, customer outcomes and operational requirements.
- Support the embedding of procurement strategy, governance and standardised processes, procedures and templates across the organisation.
- Play a key role in the ongoing development and success of the Procurement function.
- Lead category management and sourcing activities across a broad portfolio of Direct and Indirect spend categories.
- Develop and implement category strategies that balance cost, quality, service and risk management considerations.
- Manage strategic supplier and contractor relationships, driving performance and supporting the delivery of business objectives.
- Provide procurement and commercial expertise to stakeholders across the business.
- Lead sourcing exercises, tender processes, supplier evaluations and commercial negotiations.
- Negotiate and agree contract terms and commercial arrangements with suppliers, ensuring value for money and appropriate due diligence.
- Support the delivery and ongoing development of supplier relationship management activities across key suppliers.
- Undertake spend analysis to identify opportunities for improvement and support category strategy development.
- Review supplier performance through agreed KPIs and SLAs, implementing improvement plans where required.
- Drive improvements in supply chain performance with a focus on business continuity, customer service and ESG objectives.
- Support the preparation of procurement, supplier performance and commercial reporting.
- Deputise for the Director of Procurement when required.
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience operating at Procurement Manager, Senior Procurement Manager or Procurement Lead level.
- Demonstrable experience delivering procurement and supply chain activity within a complex or multi-site environment.
- Strong experience across both Direct and Indirect procurement categories.
- Essential category experience within Repairs & Maintenance and Facilities Management.
- Experience contributing to supplier relationship management programmes and supplier performance frameworks.
- Proven experience leading sourcing projects, tender processes and supplier negotiations.
- Strong commercial acumen with expertise in procurement, supplier management and contract negotiation.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across a broad range of stakeholders.
- Results-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering measurable commercial and operational outcomes.
- Strong analytical capability, including spend analysis, opportunity assessment and business case development.
- Financial literacy with the ability to identify opportunities and support commercial decision-making.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Strong customer focus, with the ability to balance commercial objectives and service delivery outcomes.
- Ability to challenge constructively and influence decision-making where required.
- Strong team player with experience working across multiple stakeholder groups and business functions.
- Good understanding of procurement governance, compliance requirements and supplier risk management.
- Proficiency across Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint and Word.
- Degree qualified in Business, Logistics or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- MCIPS qualified or studying towards qualification.
