What is B Corp and who are B Lab –
Started in 2006, B-Lab is a not-for-profit organisation built on the idea that a new type of economy was possible, whereby companies followed standards and policies that contribute positively to some of society’s most critical problems.
B Corporations are the certified companies that meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. B Corps are also legally committed to bringing benefit not just to shareholders, but all business stakeholders — workers, customers, communities, and the environment.
The B Corp movement is here to change our economic system — and to do so we have to change the rules of the game. B Lab create standards, policies, tools, and programs that shift the behaviour, culture, and structure of capitalism.
B stands for Benefit for all. The B Global Network mobilises the B Corp movement to change our economic system to positively impact all stakeholders — workers, communities, customers, and our planet.
The assessment:
The B Corp team scrutinises every part of a business across five key areas: Workers, Environment, Customers, Community, Governance. And there are a total of 192 extensive questions asked about your business.
You must achieve a minimum of 80 points in the B Impact Assessment to become B Corp Certified and we’re super proud to have achieved a score of 89.0!!
We began the certification process on 3rd October 2023 and became a B Corp on 10th April 2024 so this is by no means a quick task, it took time and dedication from the whole team.
Why B Corp is important to Talent Group:
Throughout the UK there are currently 2,000 Certified B Corp companies and 8,000 worldwide. In the recruitment agency sector there are a very limited number of B Corporations and we wanted to join them in meeting high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. We understand the importance of our environmental impact to our clients and candidates and the impact it has on their decision when choosing what suppliers to work with, especially in the procurement industry.
