You have been through the long process of preparing your CV, attending multiple interviews and now you have accepted your new position. It’s now time to start preparing yourself for your new role.
Here at Talent Drive we are here to support you every step of the way. We are all about building long lasting client and candidate relationships.
It’s very important to take the time before you transition into your new role so you feel prepared and ready to hit the ground running in your new role and impress your new team. By preparing for your new job you will feel more organised and relaxed and it’s good to get organised with things such as paperwork. You will most likely be send compliance information, questionnaires and contracts to sign, don’t leave this to the last minute or it could come across as unorganised and a red flag by your new employer!
Another part of transitioning to your new role is handing in your formal notice to let your current employer know that you are leaving. It is best practice to always give plenty of notice and give your formal notice in writing, either in a letter over a face to face meeting or schedule an online call instead of just emailing. This will help you to leave your current role on good terms, gives you a chance to wrap up your work, and say your goodbyes.
Here are a few of our extra tips to help you prepare:
Connect with your new employer – Take the time to connect with your new employer on LinkedIn as well as your new team so you can begin to learn names and faces.
Refresh your knowledge – Refresh your memory on your new company. Scan their website and social media pages to get fully caught up on recent company announcements or changes.
Begin to learn your responsibilities – Make sure you understand what your new employer expects from you during your first week of work. This way, you can get started on important tasks and projects right away.
Communicate – Keep in touch with your new employer, this can be by interacting on LinkedIn or by checking in via email.
Remember that starting a new job can be very daunting. You may find that you miss the comfort of familiarity of your old role, especially if you were there for a long period of time. Rather than looking back on the past and comparing your new role to your old one make sure you focus on the present. Now is the time to focus on building new connections and learning how to do your job well.
Don’t forget the importance of taking time to build new relationships with work colleagues.
