This year, B Corp month is all about demonstrating what it means to be part of Gen B — a generation of people using business as a force for good, taking action today, to create a better future tomorrow. B Corp month is all about engaging, learning and taking action.
This month Poppy, our brand and Marketing manager attended her first B Corp event, kindly hosted by Omega RE and Daring Works at Patch in Bournemouth. The event was all about bringing the South Coast B Corp and B Curious communities together.
The inspiring panel featured, Nikki Barry from Organix, Jessica from Patch, Nella Pang from Omega RE and Jaimie Harris from The Pollinators who shared how B Corp focuses your business strategy and helps you make a stand for what you truly believe in.

Poppy chatted to Nick at the event. Nick is a regenerative business consultant and soulful coach who has a deep-rooted passion for reshaping the way we work and live. After years of corporate life, Nick made a daring decision and stepped away from his marketing leadership role at one of the UK’s most loved brands to follow his heart and launch his purpose-led business, Daring Works. As a trained B Leader and co-Chair of ‘B Local: Dorset & Hampshire’, Nick is an active member of the progressive B Corp Community, Nick helps people dream of flourishing futures for themselves and their businesses and helps to design the systems of success to get them there.
Here is what Nick has to say about B Corp and the wonderful South Coast community he has built.
“The B Corp philosophy is powerful. There are over 9,500 B Corps with over 2,500 in the UK alone. In fact, the UK is the fastest growing community in the world.
I’m passionate about using business as a force for good so have trained as a ‘B Leader’. I help companies achieve and embed B Corp certification to amplify their positive brand story. I’m also Co-Chair of ‘B Local’ for Hampshire and Dorset with the wonderful Jaimie Harris.
So what’s a B Corp? B Corps are businesses that have made a legal commitment to use business as a force for good. And I believe the B Corp principles should be the minimum we expect from progressive business and create the foundations for deeper, regenerative thinking. B Corps have been through a process that looks at the business as a system and measures its impact, policies and resource use. You may have seen the ‘B’ logo on brands including Patagonia, Ben & Jerry’s, TOMS, Organix and of course Talent Group!
Recent research has shown that in relation to UK averages, B Corps grow faster, are more economically resilient, pay family living wages, have stronger stakeholder governance and reduce their environmental impact.
The ‘Business Impact Assessment’ is a free tool that anybody can use and is an amazing gap analysis of any business. Some people may have learned enough from simply going from the ‘BIA’ while others will want to pursue the (paid for) formal certification to demonstrate their commitment to the B Corp standards and get use of the logo. Try the Business Impact Assessment HERE
Up to now, this process has been a points based system where a company must score over 80 points to certify but new standards are coming in 2026 to strengthen belief in what the B Corp logo stands for. It’s getting tougher and that’s a good thing.
We are facing a time of incredibly complex problems so I’m grateful for a network of like-minded people who are experienced, compassionate and curious about how to find our way together. It’s why I’ve trained as a coach so that I can support and nurture individuals and teams during these times of transformation and change.
I love being part of this community and I’ve met inspirational people who have become some of my best friends.”
Here is what our founder Martin Smith has to say about what being a B Corp means to us here at Talent Group “I am really proud that Talent Group is a certified B Corp. Society must do more to protect our beautiful planet and as business owners we must do our bit to ensure we are always thinking of the social and environmental impacts in everything we do. Our mission at Talent Group is to ‘deliver talent’ with impact to our clients and ensure we do this in a sustainable and ecological way and it is great to be recognised for the commitment we have made as a purpose driven business. B Corp is a rapidly growing community and we love collaborating with like minded organisations and people as we look to improve the ecosystem that we are live in and continue to use business as a force for good.”
